Starved Rock Hot Glass Unveils New Souvenirs

Embossed art glass paperweights and ornaments

Ottawa’s own Starved Rock Hot Glass, ran by artisan Laura Johnson, is widely known for crafting a line of signature, hand-blown, art glass. From her Main Street studio, Johnson has created a wide range of colorful and crowd pleasing gifts, ranging from beautiful glass flowers to modernist mixed media pieces made from glass and reclaimed driftwood.

Now, Starved Rock Hot Glass is releasing a new item that’s sure to become an instant classic for fans of the Starved Rock Country region: souvenir art glass paperweights and ornaments, emblazoned with a stamped image of Starved Rock.

“I drew the Starved Rock image myself and had a custom brass stamp hand made,” said Johnson. “I stamp the glass while it’s still over 1000 degrees to emboss the image onto the surface of the glass!” The results are beautiful, timeless souvenirs that perfectly capture the spirit of adventure.
