The couple packed their bags and moved to Jody's family farm, located just north of Ottawa. Before they left, a friend gave them a copy of a Eliot Coleman’s book The New Organic Grower. This served as their introduction to the concept of community-supported agriculture, and propelled them down their new career path as sustainable livestock famers.
Within 9 short months of founding Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm, Jody and Beth began delivering shares to their CSA members. In following years, they've provided ethically raised livestock to members from Chicago, the suburbs and even right here in Starved Rock Country.
Now's your chance to tour this remarkable family farm. This Saturday, September 21st, Jody and Beth will be inviting visitors to Cedar Valley Sustainable Farms for a special farm-to-table meal, tour and hayrack ride experience.
"This a reprise of our farm dinner and hayrack ride from last year, we had such a good turnout, and everyone enjoyed the tour so much, that we decided to offer it once again," said Beth Osmund.
