Boggio's Orchard and Produce (12087 Hwy 71 Granville, Illinois), located less than a half hour to the west of Starved Rock State Park, will be bringing back their annual Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show for it's 20th year! More than 200 talented craft vendors and artisans will be making the trek out to Boggio's beautiful rural Granville orchard, this Saturday, Sept. 28 ( 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.) and Sunday, Sept. 29 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m. for a day of fun filled fall activities and crafts.
This weekend at Boggio's Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show, you'll get to browse the works of talented crafters, pet some friendly animals, pick your own pumpkins and apples, and sample some mouthwatering fudge. You'll find all the decorations, snacks, and DIY kid’s crafts you'll need to start this Fall season off on the right note.
The Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show draws huge crowds, so be prepared to park in the overflow lot at the nearby Putnam Country High School (402 E Silverspoon Ave, Granville, IL), where buses will shuttle you to and from the event site.
Once you get to the orchard, you'll be presented with a large amount of family friendly activities. Boggio's offers a "next level" petting zoo, featuring pens of animals you won't find on an average farm tour. You'll get to interact with miniature donkeys, zebu, goats, sheep, exotic chickens, giant rabbits, and many more friendly creatures.
A massive, and challenging, 5-acre corn maze is sure to be a hit with the older kids. If they can find three hidden stamps in the maze, they'll even have a chance to win a $100 prize! There's also a pedal car track (offering both kids and adult size cars), bounce houses, a massive outdoor jumping pillow, pony rides, hay rack rides, playhouses and games!
At the heart of Boggio's is its U-Pick apple trip, a nostalgic fall tradition that few orchards still allow. Before you depart, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a peck, 1/2 bushel or bushel sized bag, so you won't over-pick, while you're out in the orchard.
From there, a wagon will take out to the orchard, featuring more than 1,800 apple trees of various varieties. You'll have the opportunity to pluck your own produce straight from the source, allowing you to walk away with a peck of the most pristine apples you can find.
If you're in the market for pumpkins, Boggio's will even supply you with clippers and a wagon to haul your find back from their enormous pumpkin patch. There's no need to buy tiny, questionable pumpkins from a supermarket, at Boggio's you can hand pick the grandest gourd in the lot.
While you're there, be sure to stop by Boggio's bakery and produce store. There, you'll find a wide selection of breads, with French, Italian, wheat, pumpkin and zucchini being baked fresh daily. Boggio's also offers some delicious pies (apple, cherry, peach, pecan, pumpkin and a seasonal blueberry), turnovers (apple, cherry, blueberry), caramel apples, apple fritters, cookies, muffins and, or course, apple cider doughnuts!
If those options weren't decadent enough, you'll have to stop by Boggio's Fudge Heaven, located just across from the baked goods selection inside their store. There you'll be able to choose from over 12 varieties of fresh hand-made fudges, including classics like chocolate, chocolate walnut and vanilla, to exciting new flavors like mint-chocolate swirl, vanilla cookie dough and several sugar free options.
Boggio's Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show is a can't miss activity this weekend, and the perfect way to ring in the fall season with the entire family.
