Ottawa's Art In The Park Returns Aug. 1-2!

Fest will feature new artists and social distancing measures

By Ryan SearlJuly 27, 2020

For more than 50 years, The Ottawa Art League's Art In The Park has been one of the signature open air art shows in Starved Rock Country! This weekend, Aug. 1-2, the fan-favorite outdoor gallery returns with some familar faces, new artists and added social distancing measures.

More than 30 talented artists are slatted to show their work this weekend at Ottawa's Art In The Park, an annual outdoor event held in the gorgeous, tree-lined, Washington Square Park. This banner event, for art enthusiasts visiting the Starved Rock Country area, has taken added precautions to ensure that this year's installment of the festival is safe for all artists and shoppers!
Like years past, each artist participating artist in the two day long festival will have a tent to show to show off their wares and explain pieces to interested patrons. This year however, festival organizers The Ottawa Art League will be spacing the tents out to allow for additional social distancing and wider corridors between the tents.
Additionally, guests will be able to visit the event's hospitality tent, where a knowledgable volunteer will be able to answer your questions about the art league, and pass out complementary masks and hand sanitizer!

This juried fine arts show and sale is open to both professional and amateur artists, resulting in a truly diverse assortment of artwork across a wide variety of mediums. This year, 35 juried artists will be showing and selling works across a wide variety of mediums. Many will even be hosting live demos to give you a peek at their process!
Several of the juried artists will be hosting these social distance-friendly live demonstrations in their tents, allowing you to see the hard work that goes into the pieces they have for sale, first hand. Visitors can then buy the art directly from the people who created it!
This year's installment of Art in the Park will feature several new artists, whose works have never been shown at past Art In The Parks, as well as many returning favorites from prior year's shows.
