Ghost Tours in Starved Rock Country!

Haunted history comes to life in two new terrifying tours

By Ryan SearlOct. 22, 2020

Fall is officially here, and that means ghost tours are just around the corner! Starved Rock Country's past is packed with bone-chilling tales of terror and unexplained apparitions. Regardless of your belief in the supernatural, here are two great socially distant group tours that are sure to get you in the Halloween spirit!

Trolley Ghost Tours At Starved Rock State Park

Hosted by Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center

Fridays, Saturday and Sundays - October 2nd through October 31st

Hikes depart at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The spirit of a sobbing, screaming woman searches for her missing husband–lost over a century ago. The voice of a long-departed child echoes through a thick forrest canopy. A young woman checked into a hotel 100 years ago, and never checked out. From the restless spirits of Native Americans and Mobsters, to the folktales that lurk in the shadows, you can experience these local haunts–many documented by paranormal researchers–on board the Starved Rock Trolley Ghost Tour!

Costumed, ghoulish guides will captivate your imagination and escort you to destinations where ghostly sightings, orbs, voices, and unexplained happenings have reportedly haunted the area–some for generations. On this 100 minute guided tour, you'll be treated to three bone chilling hop-off destinations, where you can experience these terrifying tales first hand.

This social distance friendly tour is produced by Follies Productions & Events. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, no guests under the age of 8 will be admitted. Must have minimum of 6 guests for tour to run. Please follow all posted safety protocols during the tour. Pre-registration is required.

Brickton- A Ghost Story

Hosted by Awesome Ottawa Tours

SOLD OUT, AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE GROUP TOURS (5 people)

Tours depart at 6 p.m. from the I&M Canal Toll House

Amid the quaint beauty of downtown Ottawa and pastoral views of Starved Rock State Park, you'll find a stretch of land just east of the Fox River that's home to abandoned strip mines, disused canal, and the ghosts of a shantytown life filled with hardship, murder, and mysterious deaths. Learn the haunted history of the I&M Canal during Awesome Ottawa Tour's brand new haunted tour for 2020, 'Brickton- A Ghost Story'.

Check out the 'Brickton- A Ghost Story' trailer: www.facebook.com/334663917054418/videos/325201615567315

On this chilling 1.5-2 hour walking tour you'll hear the real stories of people who lived, worked, and died in this all but forgotten ghost town. You’ll also hear local legends and ghost stories of the canal, as your guide links the spirits to real people who met their tragic end along the route.

This diligently researched tour reveals a disproportionate amount of death by accident, suicide, and murder that took place in this mysterious shantytown, and a long tradition of paranormal activity dating back to the mid-1800s. Tom Aussum, of Awesome Ottawa Tours, believes he's found the source of this activity, once and for all. Pre-registration is required, and spaces are limited for this exciting new tour.
